Amazing flavor but what a horrible experience. Got order completely wrong. Wrong beans, put extra spice in the mild order. Didn't know which was which when brought to window. My advice if not ordering exactly as they have it listed and with someone else... Well good luck

Food was delicious. UFO, POW, Baja style. All the people who work there were so cool...except the guy with the red facial hair at the window. He was very rude. Would have been 5 stars otherwise. So disappointed, hope he is not working a shift next time or at least not allowed to talk to the customers.

It is hands down the best place to eat on the island. The locals all know it. Fresh local ingredients, good taste, made fast. The only down fall, is that once you leave the coast, there is no other place like it. ALWAYS get your taco Kong Fu style!

Fun, laid-back, atmosphere, great location near the beach, and the same quality in their Baja-style tacos (which is all I ever order here) as their Flagler Beach location. If you go during peak hours, it can take a while to get your order though--just bear this in mind. I was here on Independence Day and it took about an hour from being in line to order to finishing our dinner. However, you can order take-out by calling it in and coming to pick it up, too. Just don't think because this place is so casual you'll be in and out quickly as sometimes you just won't. Also, I really, really, love spicy food but the chicken in my Baja tacos was nearly too spicy for me. That's not a complaint, and I think most of the time they offer levels of how spicy you can get things but since this was a holiday and they were slammed, somehow it slipped through and I got like vindaloo-level spiciness. Still, it was very good. If you dislike hot food though I'd speak to them about it when you order and try to get something not so spicy.

The UFO is awesome! Super unique and flavorful. The tacos are great as well - especially baja style. The shrimp were generously sized and perfectly cooked. The homemade chips were fantastic. Their white sauce is delicious but beware - it's pretty dang spicy! Yum! My only beef is the price. SUPER overpriced.

No frills taco's and big filling burritos, Ice cold beer and tacos sitting out on a nice picnic table under a tree. the loaded nachos are very good tons of cilantro and crisp lettuce with real cheddar cheese over crispy nachos with sour cream and salsa. this is a great place to stop while cruising A1A only draw back I see is the parking lot is tiny and hard to get in and out of, but we managed.

This place is awesome!!! This place is great if your by the beach and want a pick me up or you love wearing shorts or a tank top or you just want an awesome meal. Let's start off with the staff. They are super nice and really fun, it's like a party in there very lively and energetic. The food was amazing the Mexican UFO is a must have, if you don't get it you don't know what your missing. We had it with shredded beef and the works and it was delicious and super filling packed with a lot of flavor. My wife had the chicken tacos Kung fu style with the works and they were awesome, it was a soft taco with a hard shell taco together packed with filling and holds really well. Awesome walk around food. The only down side to this place is that it's small in there gets really crowded and not much place to seat and eat, but it's still very worth it. This is a must place to grab some lunch with friends.

Good - plentiful eatery. Hits the spot for the after beach day munchies. Had the shrimp UFO and had a hard time finishing up.

My brother always raves about this place and it is the first thing he recommends to people who visit St. Augustine. After hearing about this place for almost a year, I finally went with high expectations. Mind. Blown. I ordered the Mexican UFO baja style (pictured) and it was absolutely delicious. It is like a burrito taco combination with ingredients that go perfectly together. The baja sauce was amazing. It was really great food. The way they put the UFO together is what makes it so good. I also tried their chips and queso and was surprised how good they were because they are not the typical chips you would get at other Mexican places. I understand why there is a constant line to this place. It is a great location right next to the beach and the workers are very nice. But the food by far is what I will be coming back for.

Hungry for a late night snack? Head over to Burrito Works for their tacos. Chill vibes and friendly staff.

I love finding places like the Taco Shop. It doesn't look like much of anything outside (or in for that matter), yet the tacos...Surprisingly awesome. On two different visits (and we hardly go anywhere twice when on vacation!), we had the mahi mahi taco, shredded beef, green chili pork and chicken tacos (not all at once!), both baja style and "the works." Oh, man. A revelation in taco goodness. Get at least one of these now! Better yet, get two. Since this is a walk-up kind of place, parking can be a problem. No worries. You'll find a place.

Did not disappoint! I've heard great things and the were all true. The steak is on point! Can't go wrong here! Love it!

Great place to grab some good Mexican food. Really good food. However, they take forever to get your food. Be ready for a long wait.....

Had a California burrito. Went 8 on the spicy but if your up for a kick you can easily go 10. Food tasted great, service was slow.

Fla. Usa I'm no local and wanted to give it a try, big mistake 28 bucks for no flavor and the place was a mess. Talk about a health violation waiting to happen, just look over the counter at all ingredients laying all over the place waiting to go in your food. If you can get past the mess the food is nothing special , prepared by surf punks that could give a crap. We won't be back. why am I going 2 stars?? cus I'm nice.

  • Julia C.

I got the UFO.....delicious! I wasn't 100% what I was getting but I couldn't stop eating it! My husband got a mahi tacos Baja style and he also said it was delicious. It was fast, good, fresh and we're talking about going back again before we leave! We live Mexican food and this is probably the best we've had since we've moved to Florida!

  • James B.

What a great place. Super good food, relaxed setting, and a wonderful staff. I ordered the UFO with Mahi Mahi and a local root beer ( beer ). Sat on the porch and relaxed. Great start to my vacation.

About one month ago I was in Saint Augustine on a family trip, and my brother in law (God bless him) suggested we go try this taco shop for dinner. I was like okay cool you can't go wrong with a taco shop. But little did I know my perception of tacos would change that night. This is hands down the best food I've ever had. The kung fu baja mahi mahi tacos are to die for. I literally had a dream about them the other night. Not even joking. My sister got a UFO and said it was amazing. The staff is super nice and helpful and to top it all off they have a pretty decent beer selection too. I normally don't give reviews, but I figured I should since I'm considering driving the seven hours from Chattanooga just to go here. If you're in the area and you don't stop by you're an idiot. Oh and it's super laid back which is nice so you could get away with wearing your swimsuit on the way home from the beach. Needless to say I've been scouring Chattanooga to find fish tacos that even remotely come close to these and I've been epically failing. Can't wait to see you again Burrito Works.

The chips here are AWESOME. Reasonable prices and lots of personality! Came here two days in a row!

Went last night with the whole family, including two kids. Nice selection, good food, and a nice price (I had the UFO). We sat outside at a picnic table to enjoy the nice weather.

  • Michelle C.

Love, love, love this place. We loved it so much we hit it up for dinner one day and then lunch another while on our trip to st Augustine. UFO with shrimp and fish tacos baja style are a must! Awesome chips.

  • Anita C.

simple things to order:burrito, quesidilla, tostado, tacos, and some house specials. We get 4 UFOs, you can choose between Baja style or the works. Colorful outside picnic seating, fast service, love the sauces available, rock music for casual food. Good for quick bite, lunch or dinner. Affordable. UFO was $7.50. Beer available. Soda machine drinks.

Wanted to try this after all of the reviews raved about it and the reviews for the most part have been spot on...good stuff here...tried the UFO with Mahi Mahi the first time...tried to add guacamole to it but I guess the server didnt here me after I asked for no cheese and cream...ate it up and was quite content despite this fact as the fish was clean and fresh (no fishy flavor). ..went back for a burrito late night a couple of days later because I was hungry and got a call from my lady asking for some tacos as well. I ordered the mahi mahi pow style with no cheese and spicy white sauce and man it was good...my daughter ate most of it despite the fact that it was somewhat spicy for her (i think they may have accidentally put the white sauce on it...although I couldn't really tell ) ; also ordered two mahi mahi tacos and a shrimp taco , then went back and asked if they could put the white sauce on the side...somewhat disappointed that this didnt occur, but my girlfriend and son surely didnt mind and enjoyed them...my gf said they wrre good, but I was more surprised by the fact that my son tore the shrimp taco up...spicy sauce and all (he is anti spicy and has been anti shellfish)...my girlfriend's mother than proceeded to eat the last fish taco and she also enjoyed it as well. Will most definitely hit up again before I leave town. 4/5 due to the hiccups in service, but the food is definitely good

This was surprisingly tasty!!! I looked for food on yelp yesterday after a pre-natal doctors appointment that ran extremely long. I tried a nearby sandwich shop, but it was closed, so I opted for tacos. The staff was friendly, patient, and helpful. I loved the vibe of the place....although I was ridiculously overdressed. The food did take extremely long to be prepared, but it was lunch time....and I'm pregnant. I ordered a Kung-fu style chicken taco with the works and guacamole to go. This thing was HUGE!!! It was also amazingly good. I have been thinking about it ever since. I'm actually glad that I have to go pic up my ultrasound images, because I can make the quick drive back sooner than expected. Try it, but come in your beach gear :)

St. Augustine is my home away from home, and when I'm there I love to try new places that are rated well on Yelp! This was my first time to A1A Burrito Works and it won't be my last. I took my son who is a Pescatarian and one of his meat eating friends. The food was made to order and was yummy!! I ordered the UFO chicken. My son had the shrimp nachos, and his friend had regular beef tacos. I was pleased with the amount of shrimp he had on his nachos. As he ate his way through them he kept finding shrimp. However, I wish the shrimp had been local. I can taste a farm raised shrimp from a mile away and that is likely that was used. My UFO was loaded with chicken, beans, sour cream, and cheese, and had it been loaded with a little more cheese and used local, fresh shrimp then this place would have a 5 star rating! It's a beachy atmosphere with outdoor seating only and has a cool vibe. We will definitely be back!

Great food, very fresh & served quickly! Best guacamole, salsa & chips! Big servings. Would eat there again.

    (5)
  • Mindy D.

AMAZING! We just tried their UFO today and it was fabulous! It is a small shop that seemed to be filled with locals. I always think it is a good sign when you see people placing orders to go... It means they already had it once, and wanted it again, but could stay to eat it. VERY VERY VERY GOOD!

    (5)
  • Robert Q.

Delicious... baha BAM, Mahi was good but the shrimp even better. Spicy good on a cold day. We also got the chicken burrito, tasty too. We'll be back, nice people, good selection of cerveza, open late.

  • Tamara M.

Excellent, fresh and fast. Initially avoided this gem as it is always busy. Decided to stop in for drink and order a light dinner. Baja style has excellent spice in the white sauce. We ordered a burrito and tostadas. Both were delicious and fresh. Nice twist on Mexican.

    (4)
  • Christy M.

Asked what the cashier recommended. She said she ate the UFO Baja style every day she worked. So that's what I ordered! (Fish as the seafood) it was great! Cannot wait to go back.

  • K S.

Best "taco" EVER -- baja style, "pow" mahi mahi, UFO!!! Must have!!! Made by Troy with passion for my belly!!! Screaming to the mountain top because everyone should know!! Best ever I tell you...best ever. First time here and I can't think of a taco or sandwich anywhere, not even home in New York, that can top it. Go now and indulge. You will be delighted!!!!!!

  • Jeremy S.

I love this taco shop. I live in Orlando and I would be lying if I said the A1A Burrito Works didn't play some part in deciding to make every trip here. I always get the UFO. It is the best. A taco or tostada shell loaded with chicken, pork, mahi-mahi, or steak then wrapped with a burrito shell and cooked on the flat top with cheese so the cheese melts onto the shell and it gets all crunchy and delicious. Then it is cut in half and ready to be thoroughly enjoyed. Add some Sriracha for heat if you like. This is a taco shack. The seating is all outside. What I'm saying is there is definitely no sign reading "no shoes, no shirt, no service." Laid back and perfect. If you're at St Augustine Beach, make you're way to the A Street ramp and come to A1A Burrito....you will not be sorry.

  • Mike J.

Terrible service! Waited one hour for one taco & one cheese nachos & they were COLD!!! Never again!!!!

    (1)
  • Amy R.

This is the best burrito shop you'll find in town. The Baja style is perfect crisp and fresh. I will certainly be back as I've been less impressed w their competition.

  • Dana V.

Found this small taco shack in SAB one evening when I just wanted a quick takeaway to bring back to the hotel. I called ahead for a shrimp quesadilla and was not disappointed. Food was fresh and tasty and portion was large. Black beans side was great. Seems to be a busy place with only outdoor seating. Reminded me of similar places in Long Beach, CA.

    (4)
  • Catherine B.

Everything is good! You can't go wrong here. My personal favorite is the chicken Kung fu tacos with the works. The Mexican UFO is a big favorite with everyone in my fam too. Queso is the bomb as well.

    (5)
  • Megan A.

Absolutely amazing! Great prices, great variety, great people, and most of all great taste!!!! I had the pork tacos and my hubby had the UFO. Both were amazing with just the right amount of kick! We will definitely be back!

  • Eddie M.

Located just north of A street on aia. Amazing fish tacos. Baha style. Reminds me of southern California. Think I'm going again today!! The UFO is amazing as well.

  • Charlie C.

This place made me happy. I was expecting exactly what I got and nothing more- which is awesome. After I sit and roast in the sun on the beach and get pounded by the waves all day, I want to eat mid-level mexican food and drink a cold beer. I want some grease and booze to wash me into the next level of my day's nirvana... I ordered tacos baja style, a quesedilla, and some chips and guac. The dreads proud tatted surf boys behind the counter whipped up a delicious and very cheap meal in seconds... they have a small outdoor seating area, this place is totally worth it. Go there, in whatever you wore to the beach and you are good to go.

  • Steffanie U.

We have gone to this taco shop for the last few years when vacationing in St. Augustine and have never been disappointed. The UFO is always great, with a large portion size. It does get fairly busy at lunchtime, so we called in our order for pick-up and enjoyed our food sitting at the beach.

    (5)
  • Melissa F.

I had the famous UFO and my gentleman friend had a burrito - both were delicious and huge - all washed down with beer at a picnic table. On the must-nosh list for return trips.

    (5)
  • Thomas N.

I miss this place so much. It's been 3 years since I last had the UFO and I still get cravings for it.

    (5)
  • Doug S.

Ok I guess. Cool atmosphere and awesome bottle top counter collection but over priced and just not that great but people are saying to get the UFO. I Would if I went again, also the chips were not what I'm used to and didn't leave me wanting more.

  • Jeff Q.

Needed a place for dinner one night and saw it the night we rolled into town and it just had that look of somewhere I'd dig....Honestly, the UFO from here is bad*ss! If I was ever anyone of any importance and could do that show called "best thing I ever ate" I'd be all over this for Latin creations....awesome flavor.....I had mine Baja style w/a little added heat and it was perfectly balanced w/heat and flavors....went with the fish, couldn't go wrong (little lady had the pulled beef one which was good too but the fish was more my style)...seriously....was so good, I couldn't resist stopping for one again the day after my first encounter at the one in downtown St Augustine's...fantastic....I'll be dreaming of another one on the beach along A1A when we return to Chicago here in a couple days...I'll be seein' you guys again at Burrito Works!

This little shop (and I do mean little) was right down the street from the hotel Nick and I stayed at during our time in St. Augustine, so on our first night we walked down here to get a bite for dinner. As I said above it is pretty small. There is no indoor seating, but there is a screened in porch-like area, a few picnic tables, and then a bar-like thing with stools outside of an order window. You could use any of these to eat your food or you could take it to go. The menu is fairly small, too and it's focused on Southern California style Mexican food which meant that I was getting a carne asada burrito. While it was decent it was nowhere near as good as any carne asada burrito I had while living in CA. There was just a weird percentage of the ingredients I think, like not enough fries and too much cheese or something. They offer beer or sodas to drink and all of the food we ordered came with a side of homemade tortilla chips that were quite good. The people that worked here were nice enough and we got our food super fast so all of that was a plus. I could see how people that live in this area or on the East Coast would be a fan of this spot, but for me the California burrito was just A-Ok.

    (3)
  • Amy O.

Ignore the naysayers. The food is great, the staff is friendly. Be patient during lunch and dinner rush -- it's worth it. SAB is a sleepy beach town so quit complaining about the service. If you want 5-star everything, Le Bernardin in NYC is only a 17-hour drive. UFOs and Bowls -- Baja style - are amazing!

    (5)
  • Elizabeth R.

I liked their fish tacos, but they were a little boring and under seasoned. I probably should have gotten a UFO. The fish was very fresh, but the double corn tortilla business was too much. It took away from the tacos. They have a nice baja sauce but the tacos needed more of it. I like how they have tapatio hot sauce on the tables! The atmosphere is nice, I like the location and the outdoor seating. I'd probably go somewhere else next time.

  • Beth S.

The Taco Shop, with their two locations (Downtown St. Augustine and Anastasia Island), is my go to choice for....would you guess?....tacos! In my opinion, they have cornered the taco/burrito market in St. Augustine. Keep in mind that both locations are indeed cute and compact. But during the peak hours, the place can seem downright cramped. Also, there can be quite a wait for your delicious food when busy but they try their best to pump out your tacos tout de suite. Both joints have a hip surf/skate vibe wrapped around them like their famous burritos. My favorites are the Kung Fu Fish Tacos (I ask for Mahi Mahi) and the Veggie UFO, both Baja style (meaning onion, cilantro, lime, cabbage and an amazing white spicy sauce). Kung Fu Style is a palate pleasing combo of a hard taco shell wrapped in a soft shell with melted cheese in the center, binding them. The Mexican UFO is like Kung Fu Tacos' distant cousin, half burrtio...half taco....all mouth-watering. They take a flat hard shell add your fillings and toppings of choice, fold it into an open top burrito, add lots of cheese, then throw it on the flat top so the cheese gets crispy and melts the UFO shut. It is cut in half, then...voilà!...a less messy, scrumptious burrito. A must to try!

  • Tony F.

Pros: Tacos were awesome, had one of each (chicken, beef, pork). The guys running the place are super friendly surfer guys. Small taco shack. Cons: Seating only available outside and the flies were attractive to the delicious aromas of my tacos. Don't drink the water from the outside cooler, taste unclean.

    (4)
  • Sue O.

Cute taco hut with very casual atmosphere. The food was surprisingly yummy. We had fish tacos (Baja style *hot). The soft corn tortillas were perfect and the sauce quite good. Fish was fresh. Only complaint/observation is that the kitchen looks dirty and we wondered about their health inspection score... We'd consider going again since the food was so good.

    (4)
  • Michael S.

This place was a welcome find. It's very casual, order inside eat outside kind of place. Total beach bum, hippie, taco stand vibe. I strolled up in my trunks straight from the ocean, ordered the fish U.F.O. and loved every minute of it. Food was great and so was the atmosphere. Great place to chill out and get some excellent food.

  • Robert G.

Burrito works is a great little taco shop near the beach! My favorite are the crunchy fish tacos with the works although baja style is also really good. Errrytime I come to St. Augustine I make sure to make two or three stops at this incredible taco shop. They even make their own chips and crunchy shells. The Mexican UFO is the shops most popular item and good if you are looking for something more filling. It only gets 4 stars because hey, it's still just a taco. This stand though rivals any of the other taco shop I've been to.

  • Barbie S.

BEST. TACOS. EVER. I've eaten a lot of Mexican food...A LOT. My best friend is Mexican (don't tell her I like these better ;)) and I lived to San Diego, so I thought I had eaten the best until I ate at Burrito Works Taco Shop. BWTS is a walk up joint with outdoor seating...very no nonsense, which I like. I order 3 tacos, one each of beef, chicken, and pork, delish! They offer two styles, Baja and the Works, that include different delicious toppings for your taco, burrito, etc. My husband always gets the UFO, and it is sooo good (but make sure you come with a big appetite because its huge!) My son, who is not a big Mexican food fan, even loves their tacos. Man, I could really go for a taco right now!

    (5)
  • Matt G.

Absolutely awesome taco shop just off the beach. I was fortunate enough to stay 2 blocks away for a week. During that time I had to return 5 times for more tacos and UFOs. Personal favorite was the shrimp. Gotta go Baja Style with Kung Fu style shell (soft corn shell --- melted cheese --- hard inner shell).

    (5)
  • Richard S.

Stopped and got the shredded beef Mexican UFO on my way to the airport when I was leaving. Best last meal in St. Augustine Beach. This place will not disappoint.

One of my favorite spots! The Kung fu tacos and the Mexican UFO are sick. Cool vibe, especially in the evening.

    (5)
  • Joy G.

Those are some fish tacos! Fresh , clean eating. Got them baja style and he suggested a spicy sauce to add on. Gave it just the right spice. Cool place open till 2:30. Real nice guy making the tacos. A+

  • Kevin O.

We went super late. Which is a plus for them, late night chow is important. The servers were really nice hand helpful but the food was kind of soggy / cold by the time we got to our hotel. They also didn't but any silverware in the bag so we had to get kind of messy.

    (3)
  • Nina H.

Just a little standoff of off the street. Very good food. I had the UFO and it was delicious. this is a must try.

  • Christy K.

We both had the Cali burritos and they were good. I wasn't crazy about French fries being inside the burrito and I prob would try a different one next time. We didn't know they came with chips so we ordered chips and salsa which we ended up with way too many chips. Guacamole was very good.

    (4)
  • Melissa S.

Very good food, great outside seating and very casual. A little pricey though... We had the UFO, fish tacos and salsa/guacamole/queso sampler and all were very good. Would eat here again for sure.

  • Brandon W.

UFO and tacos are good. No indoor seating. It didn't bother me but, may be a problem for others. I have been visiting this place regularly since moving to St. Augustine.

    (4)
  • Tom N.

Solid little dive taco stand. This place makes you feel like a local if just for the short time you are there. The food was a little pricy for what you get but it was tasty so this was not that big of a deal. They have old school sodas in glass bottles, I LOVE THIS! Sometimes you just need a break from seafood at the beach and if that's the case why not try a little beach Mexican!

    (4)
  • Buck C.

Whenever I am working in cold climates I just remember this little taco stand on the beach and my mind drifts away to paradise. Fish tacos, Seabreeze in the Palms, Sunshine and a cold beer yum. Oh how the smell of blackened fish mixes with the salt air and suntan lotion.

  • S W.

Excellent meal, good portion and great tasting. Cooked to order. They have a very casual atmosphere with a picnic style outdoor seating area. Food is very reasonably priced. Fresh guacamole was well prepared.

  • Chuck E.

I would move to St Augustine because of this place. I love it however my wife felt like everything was too hot and spicy for her. That would be the only reason I'd give it 4 instead of 5 stars. Kids loved it BTW. Awesome!

  • Chuck S.

Great little place. This is a hole in the wall with fabulous tacos, burritos , tostadas etc. chicken, pork, beef and shrimp . Black beans, frijoles and fresh accompaniments. Excellent chips and cold beer as well as soft drinks. Huge portions in a beachside surfer dude atmosphere. Well worth stopping in!

I was looking forward to some good Mexican food and this little shack had good reviews so thought we'd give it a try. The place is not much to look at, it's a dive, so I was expecting great food. Unfortunately, the food was not that great. It was really flavorless like they don't use any seasoning in the meat at all. Would not go back.

  • Margaret W.

I've been eating here since it opened, at both the beach and downtown locations. The food is amazing, but the employees really need to get it together. I always get take out and call ahead, and every time my order is wrong. Today, I forgot to check my order before I left and was already back at work before I realized it was wrong. After being a regular for years and putting up with the poor service because the food is very good, this was the last straw. I will not be eating here any more.

  • Cheryl B.

The best little taco place to enjoy fresh fish tacos. My friends and I love this place. Great for take out and they also have a small screened in porch. Nothing fancy, but their tacos are fabulous.

  • Bryan W.

Great chicken quesadilla ! Cool surfers doing the cooking! Surfs up dude!

  • Amanda F.

My whole family got some form of the UFO, which I was told is Burrito Works version of a crunch wrap. It was loaded with filling and delicious. You can pick chicken, steak, beef or Mexican I think. You can choose black beans or pintos and the works or baja. I went with the works, which was just right. Some of the others in my party chose 'baja', which is very, very spicy. We're Italian, so we're used to spicy food. I ordered the chicken taco for my daughter and she inhaled it. Seating was all outdoor, picnic tables. There was a screened in porch area with picnic tables as well. Very informal. Very good food all in all.

Best Mexican food I've ever had made by gringos! If you're uptight, you probably won't like this place.

    (4)
  • Ryan C.

Get the fish taco (mahi-mahi) kung-fu style. The fish is grilled, fresh, and flaky. The sauce has a little kick to it and the whole thing together is awesome! You will have to wait a little bit for your food after you order since it is made fresh. This is an awesome beach taco shop.

YUM! I had a fish taco, baja style, and a carne asada taco with the works. They were quite good. I wouldn't call them "authentic", but they were really good. One of my friends had the UFO with fish and shrimp, and it was AWESOME. I'm sure the burrito shop will just LOVE this comparison (lol) - but a UFO is basically a Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme made with non-shitty ingredients (and bigger, because they don't skimp on the fillings). The employees could have been more helpful when they saw 5 wide-eyed, confused tourists walking in trying to decipher their Da Vinci Code of a menu. But I also imagine they're pretty f-ing sick of confused tourists in there. Ha.

We've been to this great little place quite a few times now and love the food and the atmosphere and the service! It's a fun and funky little place with friendly staff and consistently great food. The price is right and if you're looking for late night dining in St. Augustine, this is one of the few places that's open late. If you want a fun, groovy, beach vibe, check out A1A Burrito Works. Another great plus: VEGAN DINING OPTIONS!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!

My boyfriend and I ended up at this taco place after hours of driving and let me tell you I could not have asked for more. We had their bestseller the UFO and it was very good and I was pleased they had beer because after the drive the meal and alcohol went perfectly to lift my mood for the rest of our stay in St. Augustine :) Definitely worth a stop in to try the UFO.

Delicious food, didn't warn us about how spicy it was, but despite that it was great. Super friendly staff also

As we approached the Surf Shack were greeted by Otto Rocket who was sitting tanned and shirtless by the "to go" window. He flashed us a toothy grin as he hopped off the stool and onto his long board and skated away; his sun bleached blond hair flowing behind him. We opened the screen door and stood inside the small vestibule to make an order. We were waited on at the counter by Tito who must have recently lost a lot of weight as I hardly recognized him. We ordered a beef burrito and the fish tacos, both "Baja Style" and with "The Works". Tito asked me how hot I wanted my tacos from 1 to 10. I played it safe and chose 5. Raymundo and Reggie worked the grill feverishly and we exited to the dinning areas to wait for our orders. There are a couple of dinning areas: the al fresco picnic area beneath the palms, the inside and outside counters and the screened in dinning room. We chose the dining room. My wife headed off to the car and returned with some wet wipes to clean the sun tan oil off the bench seat. Such is beach life. We watched a truck full of teens (friends of Reggie's perhaps) pile out of the vehicle and kick the sand off their feet. They threw on some tees and beach dresses and made themselves presentable, sitting at the picnic tables as not to get sand on the sand. Our order popped out the delivery window as Raymundo called out our name. I hopped up and had to make two trips as the burrito was substantial and I couldn't handle it along with two orders of tacos. I dropped the food onto the table, the burrito making a thud, and we proceeded to chow. The tacos were good and I was able to sample both varieties. I preferred the Baja as the cabbage stayed crisper. The fish was a little dry but the sauce was tasty. 5 was just right, though I may venture to 7 next time. The burrito was a challenge and I was able to see the inside as it was dissected and the premium fillings were cherry picked. The beef was shredded vs. ground and had a nice flavor. The chips that accompanied the burrito were very good and I contemplated an order with salsa for under two bucks. Next time... We cleaned up, my wife leaving the table better than we found it, and headed out the door. We drove off, destination beach, our stomachs happy. I never did see Twister. Maybe it was his day off?

This place is great. Not sure why it's not on Yelp yet. This is the taco shop on A1A Beach Blvd, not St George's. The staff is nice, food is great...especially the fish tacos, Baja style. Cabbage instead of lettuce and the home made hot sauce is, what can I say, great! And, hot! Try the tamarind soft drink.

Just ate at this hole in the wall gem on a beach trip. Unbelievably good. Wife had the UFO made Baja style with grilled fish and it was possibly the best tasting SW style meal I have ever tasted.

Wholly burritoly!!! I visited here over the summer. This place was great, it was busy at lunch when we were there. I had the shrimp burrito baja style and all i can say is it was the most tasty burrito i have eaten!!! I wish I lived here so I could go everyday. It was a small two person run shop when i was there and it worked like clockwork, had to wait a bit but it was totally worth it. I want to fly to JAX, and take a cab to this place just to have another one of their delicious burritos.

I had the best experience here- went on a Sunday and it wasn't busy at all. I tried chicken tacos "Kung Fu" style (like a double-Decker?) one baja style and the other traditional. They both were great! I loved the sauce on the Baja style, though- so it was the winner. The chips are freshly deep fried tortilla chips, and the salsa was very chunky, fresh tomato style, like pico-de-gallo- a little different, but really tasty. We will certainly stop by here again on our next visit to St. Augustine!

Rebelution and slightly stoopid on the stereo, negra modela on my tongue, and mexican UFO burrito from heaven in my belly. All senses engaged in bliss. First time in here and I'm hooked.

Me and my girlfriend each had the UFO burrito. It was delicious. Cool place, great staff and lax atmosphere will make this a must stop for me in the future. Bob Marley/The Wailers playing outside #chill

Great food and great people. My favorites are the Tijuana cart tacos; simple, but the real deal. Prices might be a touch high on some items, but not bad at all considering the location. We hit them up every time we're in the area.

Me and 2 others got the specialty there and if you get it get the chicken the beef and fish were awful and I waited forever to get it only for it to be cold... Also the fish tacos were puny little things that were not tasty in the slightest bit. I would not go to this place ever again! The only thing that was decent were the chips and that's not saying a lot

Disgusting. Does not say much for the establishment if they cannot secure the patio doors to prevent flies. There were a freaking BILLION flies in there during lunch. If they are out there they are certainly in the kitchen landing on the food, barfing fly digestive fluid on it, you know how flies do. The chips were awful, burnt chunks of tortilla, and the salsa was watery and flavorless. The tacos (1 fish, one carne) were just bland. Wait, why did I give this 2 stars

I have never had Tacos so good! I honestly have been craving them since I left. So glad that it was the only place open with food and beer after I got off work because Im not sure I would have found it otherwise. Queso is amazing and super hot :) Chill atmosphere and did I mention how amazing the food is?!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
